The Nationalist Party this afternoon again called onto the government to immediately revise petrol and diesel prices insisting people were being robbed at the petrol pump with every day that passed.
Energy shadow minister Marthese Portelli told a news conference it was not acceptable for the government to wait until March to do what other EU countries had been doing for the past six months.
"We expect (Energy Minister) Konrad Mizzi to revise prices now and not wait until his hedging agreement is over. If he made a mistake he must say so and not make consumers pay for his blunders," she said.
Dr Portelli said that despite various calls the government has so far refused to publish contracts to let the people know at what prices Enemalta hedged its prices.
She said that the government did not even want to say who werethe members of the fuel procurement committee setting and deciding Enemalta's hedging.
She called for a serious investigation on why competition rules did not seem to be working in Malta when it came to fuel.
"The end result of all this is that (Prime Minister) Joseph Muscat is making consumers paying for fuel through their noses".
She said the Nationalist Party will not rest until the government revised the fuel prices.
