Angelo Xuereb and Paul Catania have been given the Gieh in-Naxxar award for their sterling work in the community.
They were given the award during this year's edition of Festa Naxxar, held recently by the Naxxar local council and sponsored by HSBC.
Festa Naxxar kicked off with a cultural tour of the town, followed with a concert at the ballroom of Palazzo Parisio for which President Emeritus Guido de Marco was present, and ended with a buffet of traditional Maltese food.
Festa Naxxar also celebrated the Naxxar meeting of the Network of European Alimentary Culture, a European programme with participants from 17 European countries. Malta is represented by Furtu Selvatico School of Naxxar.
This network is based on the principle of enhancement of European culture through food and culinary tradition. During the event, the foreign delegates had the opportunity to taste good local food.
HSBC also donated Lm2,000 for the setting up of a day care centre for old people.
