A fire outside a car showroom in Naxxar was extinguished before the flames reached the vehicles on display this morning. 

The fire was caused by somebody burning tyres in the area behind the Triq tal-Labour showroom, a Civil Protection Department spokesman said. 

Flames spread and burnt down a door to the showroom, but firefighters intervened in time to prevent any further damage, the CPD spokesman said.
