The Stray Animals Support Group was instituted to provide help and support to organisations and individuals who dedicate their time to care for stray animals.
In collaboration with a German animal welfare group, SASG is carrying out a neutering programme. Animals from stray colonies are trapped, neutered, cared for during recovery, and then released back into their natural habitat. Over 1,100 stray cats have been neutered since we started last July. 'Yelp for Help' and the 'Happy Paws' Charity Shop in San Gwann have also provided vouchers for this neutering campaign.
Unfortunately our activity is constrained due to the lack of support and funds. We also need volunteers who are willing to help others who have no means of transporting their cats to the vets for neutering. The animal ambulance rescue team is already working at full stretch here but further resources are required to meet the demand.
To raise funds SASG holds regular bazaars in Sliema. We need items for the bazaar, e.g. books, knick-knacks, souvenirs, costume jewellery, empty perfume bottles, toys. We also need people who are willing to take part, or transport volunteers to the bazaar.
We wish to sincerely thank all those who are currently giving us a hand.
