A neutering and micro-chipping programme will start next month in Valletta as part of a programme conducted by the UK's Dogs Trust and the SPCA.

The subsidised procedure will cost owners receiving benefits €25, a 75 per cent discount on the usual average fee of €100. The programme, which aims to neuter an estimated 35,000 pets in five years, is emphasising the proven health benefits of neutering the animal as it prevents certain cancers and can reduce negative behaviours.

Those eligible to take part in this initiative can call Dogs Trust on 2142 1140 or 7771 1100 for more information.
