20 year old Jingle Poyos is a new mother - her baby was born on Wednesday at a hospital on the typhoon ravaged island of Cebu in central Philippines.

Two days before she gave birth, Jingle rode out the storm. Her house is now totally destroyed.

"Many trees were falling down and at that time actually and I didn't know where I was going, I was just running and running. My tummy was so big."

The hospital where she and dozens of others are staying has no power and relies on water donated by the Red Cross.

Hospital workers say they are unable to perform basic tasks.

"At present we cannot perform laboratory and X-ray, and so with operation because we have no lights. We are in need of a heavy duty generator."

Typhoon Haiyan has affected a large section of central Philippines.

Along the roads of Cebu, children hold signs that say 'we need food'.

While people in damaged areas like Tacloban are will be amongst the first to receive aid, people here, also in dire need of supplies, will have to wait a bit longer.
