A change in the disciplinary system, replacing punishment with corrective action, is one of measures contained in a new collective agreement for employees at the three local hotels run by Corinthia Hotels International.

The General Workers' Union, which signed the agreement on behalf of the workers, said it also provides for a substantial wage increase, a guarantee of alternative employment or, when this is impossible, compensation in case of redundancy, as well as other allowances and benefits.

The agreement is effective from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2010. It covers all the workers employed on a definite or indefinite contract as well as part-timers at the Corinthia Palace, San Ġorġ Corinthia and Corinthia Marina.
