New health clinic in Żurrieq

Health Minister Louis Deguara reiterated his party's intention to continue investing in community health care.

Inaugurating a health clinic in Żurrieq, he said in the past months his ministry had been consulting a number of service providers and users to examine the current situation. A task force has formulated a strategy after evaluating the information and will be proposing an action plan.

Dr Deguara said community care was the fulcrum of health services, with health centres and health clinics having an important role since they are close to the patient.

Parliamentary Secretary Helen D'Amato said the clinic was a government project to which the local council had also contributed. In fact, the council contributed 15 per cent of the €70,000 (Lm30,051) needed to finish it.
