Pamela Kerr has been awarded the Enrico Cecchetti Diploma.

Judged by two senior examiners, Ms Kerr performed excerpts of principal roles from the grand ballets including Swan Lake, Spectre de la Rose and Les Sylphides, among others.

Two other Maltese teachers already hold this award - Tanya Bayona and Theresa Lungaro-Mifsud. However, Ms Kerr is the first Maltese candidate to pass the examination as a dancer. She had been working hard with Ms Lungaro-Mifsud for the last three years in order to attain the required level.

Ms Kerr started her training at the age of five under Ms Lungaro-Mifsud at Ms Bayona's Academy. She also studied Spanish dance with Rosanna Maya.

In 1997, she was awarded a six-month scholarship with the London Studio Centre, where she was able to further develop her dance studies.

In 1999, she decided to continue her studies with Ms Lungaro-Mifsud at The Dance Workshop, where she attained her international qualifications, gaining her Advanced 2 dancer's certificate as well as her Associate Diploma teaching qualification of the Cecchetti Method.

In 2001, she was invited to join the teaching faculty at The Dance Workshop, where she is responsible for the middle and lower school.

Ms Kerr is a qualified assistant psychologist and holds a full-time post with Caritas Malta.
