The care and retirement home will house 121 people
A home for up to 121 elderly residents has been officially opened in the heart of Victoria, Gozo, by the prime minister.
Casa Giuseppe is a €6.4 million investment that offers dignity and quality of life to the elderly in Gozo, the Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement.
Casa Giuseppe (Facebook)Robert Abela was taken around various sections of the home, including the bedrooms, a rooftop garden and 'Il-Każin’ a common area where the elderly can socialise.
The home, run by iCare Operations Ltd at Fortunato Mizzi Street, is set to employ 90 persons. It welcomed its first residents in September.
The prime minister said this private investment was crucial to the government's vision of a better quality of life for the elderly. Such investment not only created jobs, but they also provided peace of mind and dignity to the elderly. This home also created a community within which the elderly could stay active and engaged in society.
