InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has launched a $1 billion worldwide programme of new service initiatives aimed at strengthening the InterContinental brand in the international market for business travel.

The InterContinental Malta, which is set to open before the year's end, is included in this programme.

Last month, all InterContinental hotels were linked to a new central reservations system that allows them to mix and match room rates and room types. It ensures that all hotel inventories are available to travel bookers who are searching for a hotel in any of InterContinental's hotel brand websites.

The reshaping of the brand is supported by a global $25 million advertising and marketing campaign, launched worldwide this week.
