New initiative celebrates Malta’s folk heritage

Weekly għana performances to be held at Sala San Duminku, in Valletta, from July 1

A new cultural initiative celebrating Malta’s folk heritage through traditional għana singing, storytelling and acoustic guitar performances is kicking off on July 1 at the Sala San Duminku, in Valletta.

Folk Underground aims to show that far from being a relic of the past, għana remains a vibrant and evolving art form while offering a rare opportunity to experience the cultural tradition beyond its usual village and community settings.
