New premises for the Gozo Business Chamber, in Republic Street, Victoria, were recently inaugurated by Minister Giovanna Debono and blessed by Mgr John B. Gauci, vicar general.

The chamber, founded in December 1999, has been operating from the Ministry's premises in St Francis Street, Victoria. The need for its own premises was felt with the increasing workload necessitating long meetings.

The new premises are centrally situated and accessible to all. The place was refurbished by a team led by Joe Spiteri, who saw to the completion of the job in time for the official inauguration which took place on the anniversary of the Chamber's founding.

During the inauguration, John Magro, president of the Chamber, explained the Chamber's aims, and thanked the team working on the premises and all those who donate items for the embellishment of the place.

Minister Debono praised the efforts being made by the Chamber, and also thanked the council's work towards the development of Gozo and the business community.

Membership in the Chamber is open to businessmen operating from Gozo, and is available in six sectors - trade, wholesale and retail, industry and crafts, construction industry, tertiary services, agriculture and fisheries, and tourism.
