Vodafone Malta Limited has introduced a new system through which customers can recharge their prepaid account while abroad and check their credit balance via SMS.

The company said that while abroad, customers in possession of a Maltese top-up voucher can recharge their account by sending a free SMS with the hidden recharge number - found under the scratch panel at the back voucher - to 50915777.

Roaming customers can also check their prepaid account balance by sending a blank SMS to 50915757, and they will receive an SMS with their current balance and the expiry date. The SMS costs 15 cents.

The company said customers were previously able to check their balance and top up their account by calling 99123 from abroad. Vodafone Malta said this service was no longer available to roaming customers, but was available only to prepaid customers in Malta.
