The Malta Environment and Planning Authority has launched a public consultation on a new policy document that aims to turn 25,000 square metres at Ta' Masrija, in Mellieha into a residential area of 500 homes.

Ta' Masrija is situated along the Mellieha bypass and was originally designated as a site for garage businesses, but submissions from the local council have prompted Mepa to propose a new scheme.

The development would consist of terraced houses, maisonettes and apartments together with shops and underground car parks.

The public may view the consultation document at the Mepa offices in Floriana and Victoria.
