A new storehouse for the Xaghra feast decorations was recently opened in April 28, 1688 Street.

Volunteers of the Ghaqda tal-Armar 1973, responsible for the feast decorations and restoration, as well as a number of sponsors, attended Mass led by the archpriest, Mgr Eucharist Sultana, at the Basilica.

At the inauguration ceremony at the storehouse, speeches were delivered by Mgr Sultana and Minister Giovanna Debono and a poem was read by Fr Julian Refalo.

The Schola Cantorum Jubilate, under Marouska Attard, sang Ifthu ilkoll from a Maltese version of The Gondoliers by Gilbert and Sullivan, andVa Pensiero from Verdi's Nabucco.

The new storehouse was officially opened by Minister Debono and blessed by Mgr Sultana. Marvic Xerri was seen flying the flag with the new logo of the Ghaqda tal-Armar 1973, designed by Joseph Cauchi and painted by Laurence Galea.

Guests listened to recordings from Il-Briju tax-Xaghrin, which was produced last year by the Ghaqda Zghazagh 1973.
