New vehicles improve CPD readiness for industrial incidents

New units include decontamination units, and Hazmat trucks

The Civil Protection Department has taken delivery of new emergency response vehicles in what it described as an important milestone in strengthening its capabilities.

The €7 million investment includes two industrial fire appliances, two decontamination units, and two Hazmat trucks.

"These state-of-the-art vehicles will further enhance the department’s operational readiness, emergency response efficiency, and capacity to protect the Maltese community during industrial incidents, hazardous material emergencies, and large-scale operations," the CPD said.

Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri attended a ceremony marking the commissioning of the units.
