Ira Losco will be live in concert in Valletta on New Year’s Eve as part of celebrations in the capital.
On Monday, St George’s Square will host the main stage where some Malta’s local artists will perform before welcoming the New Year. Entrance is free.
Celebrations will start at 8.30pm with local duo Xarulù, followed by Ira.
Accompanied by her band, she will perform the best songs of her repertoire including chart-topping singles, What I’d Give, Me Luv U Long Time, and her recent single One in A Million, which is also included in her 7th album titled No Sinner No Saint.
Following Ira Losco’s concert, DJ Pierre Cordina will take to the stage for an energetic countdown to midnight, playing a mashup of the best dance anthems of 2018. DJ Mykill will close off the night accompanied by live musicians.
Corazon Mizzi and Owen Bonnici host the event. Firework displays and special effects will be part of the festivities.
Valletta 2018 Foundation chairman Jason Micallef said the show will also be spread across other streets in Valletta including the area in front of the law courts and Pjazza Teatru Rjal.
On the night, the Floriana Park and Ride service as well as regular bus and ferry services to and from Valletta will be extended to 2am.
The Valletta New Year’s Eve celebrations are being organised by the Valletta 2018 Foundation in collaboration with G7 Events, the Valletta council, the Malta Tourism Authority, the Ministry for Tourism, and the Ministry for Culture.
