One admires the number of activities that are held by the various NGOs. But do we really help these organisations? They urgently need a collective premises to be set up for them, as in Gozo.

Various options could be explored. In Floriana the Ospizju may be ideal for such a purpose. Or perhaps the Housing Authority could offer a place at minimum rent. Alternatively, why does Malta Enterprise not let them have an unused factory to be used for displays, exhibitions and cultural activities? Or perhaps there are EU funds, or money from the Lotteries Fund, that could enable NGOs to buy their own shared premises.

Touring Club Malta is a case in point. It was established 25 years ago and never acquired funds to buy its own premises, to have its own touring office. The demands from tourists are many, especially from Maltese going abroad. Such premises could be used to run a road safety campaign. Touring Club Malta is a member of the FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile). Besides it helps foreign FIA members in Malta.

The club deserves a reward after working voluntarily in Malta for 25 years! A "House of Motorists" is needed urgently. From there, one could more easily organise campaigns and publicity against drinking and driving, for example, as well as other educational and cultural transport programmes.
