There is no plan to introduce an air ambulance service to uplift patients from the peripheries, such as Mellieħa and Marsaxlokk, to hospital, Social Policy Minister John Dalli said in reply to a parliamentary question by Anthony Agius Decelis (PL).

Mr Dalli said that when a patient needed urgent transport, he or she would be rushed to hospital by ambulance, which was invariably given precedence over all traffic. Besides, the Mosta health centre provided a daily ambulance service up to 8 p.m. to ensure the swiftest possible response to patients' needs in the northwest of Malta.
