The Malta Environment and Planning Authority yesterday said no hazardous waste was found on the Norwegian ship Kronviken, which is in Malta for repairs.

Some media reports had claimed that the ship might be carrying toxic waste.

The ship called at the tank cleaning farm before going into the drydocks, as is normal procedure.

An inspection by MEPA and Civil Protection Department personnel at the farm did not come across any problems, the authority said, adding that the only ashes found were from incineration of the ship's own domestic waste.
