Firefighters put out large blaze near Victoria

CPD reminds public to remain vigilant during hot and dry weather

No injuries were reported after a large grass fire broke out in the Ta’ Gelmus area of Victoria, Gozo on Sunday.

Civil Protection Department firefighters from Fire Station 6 were called to the scene earlier in the day and worked to contain and extinguish the blaze.

The department said crews acted swiftly to prevent the fire from spreading further and to ensure nearby areas were kept safe.

Police officers and medical staff from the Emergency Department at Gozo General Hospital assisted during the incident.

The Civil Protection Department thanked both The Malta Police Force and the hospital’s emergency team for their support.

It also reminded the public to remain vigilant during hot and dry weather and to report any signs of fire immediately by calling 112.
