I refer to an article published on February 7 which said the National Council of Woman (NCW) will be organising an art exhibition by female artists to celebrate International Women's Day. I would have thought such an exhibition to be a thing of the past; in 2010, female artists do not need positive discrimination.

Women in Malta may still need positive discrimination in other areas, but certainly not in the artistic field. If NCW wanted to mark this day, it would have been better to have extended the invitation to all artists without discriminating by gender and thus avoiding the risk of recreating ghettoes.
