The Electoral commission will start receiving the nominations for the general elections next week, both online and in person.
In a statement on Saturday, the Electoral Commission announced that online applications via its website will open Thursday, May 7 at 9am until Monday May 11 at 7pm.
Candidates can also submit their nominations in person at the Office of the Electoral Commission at the Counting Hall Complex in Naxxar from Thursday May 7 to Monday May 11, from 9am to 1pm and from 3pm to 7pm, Saturday and Sunday included.
Candidates who opt not to settle their €90 deposit online must ensure that they do so by hand by not later than May 11 at 7pm.
Candidates must present their identity card and ensure that the top section of the nomination form reflects the details of the candidate as shown in the electoral register published on May 1, 2026.
In case of illness or overseas travel, the nomination form can be submitted by a representative of the candidate, with a specific power of attorney authenticated by a notary public or a Commissioner of Oaths.
Application forms for prospective candidates may be obtained from the Office of the Electoral Commission as from Saturday and during nomination days. Forms may also be downloaded from the Electoral Commission’s website.
Objections to nominations will be received at the same office during the days and hours established for nominations as well as on Tuesday May 12.
