Former television presenter Norman Vella did not exclude contesting the forthcoming European Parliament elections on the Nationalist Party ticket.

Mr Vella told timesofmalta.com when contacted this morning that life was so full of surprises that he would not exclude that contesting the EP elections may feature in his future.

He would neither confirm nor deny having been approached by the PN to run on its ticket.

“I never imagined that I would go back to working at the airport as an immigration officer after so many years in journalism and I also did not expect being arrested and taken in for questioning when I saw (Government Head of Communications) Kurt Farrugia and (Interior Minister Communications Coordinator) Ramona Attard going abroad. Similarly, I do not exclude that anything could happen in the near future,” he said.

Mr Vella made the headlines last month when he was arrested and had his mobile and tablet confiscated for allegedly taking photographs in a restricted area at the airport, where he works. Prime Minister Joseph Muscat told The Sunday Times of Malta that the police should have handled the case better.
