It was January 6 and Notte Magica was being held in our capital. But to residents of Valletta it was a nightmare Saturday in terms of parking, especially those of us who live next to Hastings Gardens and the government flats.
When I went home in the afternoon I was told by a police officer that no one was allowed to park next to our house. Half the no-parking spaces were left empty for nothing. The police officer himself admitted that that was the case.
When one of the residents went to the local council the reply received was that residents were allowed to park. When we went back to the police station and told them about the reply they told us that the MTA had told them that no one was allowed to park.
Can someone please tell me when we residents of Valletta are going to have some parking privileges in the capital? This issue is repeating itself at every major event that is organised in Valletta.
I hope that someone in the local council replies to my letter and presents a solution for the future.
