Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has not ruled out dismissing Konrad Mizzi and Keith Schembri as he ponders what decision to take on the Panama scandal.

Asked whether the resignation of his energy minister and chief of staff were on the table, Dr Muscat said he will be basing his decision on facts and “public sentiment”.

Pressed to say whether he was excluding the removal of Dr Mizzi and Mr Schembri, the Prime Minister insisted “nothing is excluded”.

Dr Muscat gave an interview on One TV yesterday evening in which he hinted at an impending important decision linked to the Panama scandal.
The interview was not scheduled and it was announced on the station a few hours before it went on air.

Dr Muscat said he acknowledged public anger and concern on the Panama scandal and had to take this into consideration.

Dr Mizzi is expected to address the Labour general conference tonight, while Dr Muscat will close it on Sunday morning, the same day that the Nationalist Party will be organising an anti-corruption demonstration in Valletta.
