The police tasered a man who threatened them with two kitchen knives yesterday.

The incident occurred in his mother’s house in Triq il-Fabbriki, Xgħajra.

The police said the mother had reported on Tuesday that her son was out of control, abusing drugs in her house, causing substantial damage to it and being in possession of a firearm. That day the man had left by the time police arrived, however.

They returned yesterday and found him rolling “something suspicious” with a number of syringes close by.

While seeming to cooperate at first, he grabbed two knives and threatened the officers, who had no option but to taser him before being able to handcuff him, the police said.
