An oil spill caused by a leak from the Malta Drydocks' tank cleaning farm in Rinella was quickly controlled by the Oil Pollution Response Module yesterday morning.

Minutes after it was informed of the spill, the response module of the Ministry for Resources and Infrastructure, which issued the statement, took steps to prevent the oil from spreading around the bay.

With the cooperation of the Malta Drydocks, booms were placed at the source of the spill. Vessels were then sent to remove the oil.

The operation was headed by response module manager Tony Mallia and had the cooperation of the officials and workers of the tank cleaning farm.
