The McDonald's Olympic Day Run this year attracted 476 registered participants both young and old, parents and their children, athletes, running clubs, the armed forces and teams representing local companies.

On Sunday morning, Valletta's Republic Street hosted an eager crowd ready to take part in this Worldwide Sports for All activity, organised by the International Olympic Committee.

The route was split into three distances for the different capabilities of the participants, which included the 5km, 3km and 2km. The 5km run was started by Mr Justice Lino Farrugia Sacco, president of the Malta Olympic Committee, accompanied by MOC secretary general Joseph Cassar.

At the end of the run all participants received a signed IOC certificate and an official t-shirt.

To close the day's activities, Mr Justice Farrugia Sacco presented Malta's Olympians with a commemorative coin in recognition of their contribution to Malta's history at the Olympics.
