The Labour Party's spokesperson for women's rights, Helena Dalli, said the government should accept the opposition's appeal to discuss the ombudsman's annual report in the full parliament.

Apart from putting the report under the scrutiny of the people's representatives, the discussion in parliament would also help to make the work being done by this important office better known to the public.

Ms Dalli added that it resulted from the ombudsman's report that despite the useful work being done by this office, there were public departments and organisations which completely disregarded criticism by the ombudsman that things were not progressing as they should.
