On a positive note

Since we always hear complaints about our government departments, I think it is only fair that I share with you something extremely positive.

Recently I have had to change my manual car to an automatic, definitely not from choice but necessity as it had become very painful to drive and worse still to walk.

I would like first to thank Minister of Finance John Dalli for giving disabled people a part reduction on registration tax. Secondly, I would like to thank the following gentlemen who went out of their way to explain to me in detail exactly what I was entitled to and for their infinite courtesy and patience:

Dione Sacco, Licensing Department; Mario Saliba, Registration Tax Department; Mr G. Brincau, Ministry of Finance; Tony Gatt, Price Control Section; Mr DeBrincat and Mr Sandro Micallef, National Commission for the Disabled. I would also like to thank the lady at the Consumer and Competition Division at St Venera whose name I did not ask.

Finally, I would like to thank Renaldo D'Alessandro and Mr De Domenico of Frank Borda Ltd, who managed to turn one very dissatisfied and extremely exasperated customer into a satisfied customer. We are always ready to moan about everything but rarely do anything about it.

I have always believed that there are always people ready to help and I feel that they all deserve our thanks and appreciation even if, after all, they are just doing their job.

Thanks also to you for all the help and support you give consumers everywhere. It is mainly thanks to you that more people now complain when they are not happy about something. (Margaret Camilleri-Pace)
