We can only conclude this week's column on a positive note:

Please allow me some space to share a personal experience of some excellent customer care and after-sales service provided by Sandro Zammit La Rosa of King shoe shop, agents for Ecco shoes in Malta.

A few years ago I bought a pair of Ecco shoes from the outlet in Bay Street. Prior to wearing them again this winter, I noticed that the heels of the shoes had crumbled in, thus rendering the shoes unsuitable for walking. I had my doubts as to whether I should return the shoes to the shop or not, however, since I hadn't used them that much, I decided to give it a try. I must say I was rather sceptical at first about the service I would receive. However, on meeting Sandro Zammit La Rosa, my views on the matter changed completely. He was friendly and efficient at dealing with my complaint. He explained that the soles of the shoes were made out of a particular material that is not damp-proof and this is what caused the premature wearing out. He promised he would get in touch with Ecco abroad and added that he would get back to me in two weeks' time. Sure enough, after two weeks I received a credit note that entitled me to a 50 per cent discount off my next purchase.

I kindly ask you to publish this letter of appraisal and I will definitely be doing my shoe-shopping from Zammit La Rosa footwear in the future!
