Bad work

Puddles of water are a daily occurrence at Ġeraldu Azzopardi Street, Lija, even when it is not raining, residents say, insisting this is the result of badly-constructed roads. Unfortunately for them, the water has been seeping into garages.

Poorparking

Inconsiderate parking at Pama Supermarket complex has become the norm. Despite ample parking space, some motorists leave their vehicles wherever they please, even right in the middle of the pedestrian lane.

Out of order

Two fountains in Valletta, one in the Lower Barrakka Gardens and the other at Hastings Gardens, have been switched off for weeks. With so few gardens on the island, one would expect the existing ones to be shipshape. Sadly, this seems to be far from the case.

Wobbly fence

Construction workers should ensure that when putting up fences to seal off dangerous spaces they do so properly. A wobbly enclosure at a construction site in St Paul’s Street, St Paul’s Bay, is not only failing to serve its purpose but is likely to cause a nasty accident if it is not fixed soon.

No landfill

Many simply cannot understand that a bring-in site is not a landfill, where rubbish can be deposited at any time of the day. Despite the information campaigns, this modern bring-in site in Triq Stefanotis, San Ġwann, is often littered with bulky items and organic waste, as this picture taken on New Year’s Day shows.
