When assessing applications for development permission in accordance with the policies in policy and design guidance on agriculture, farm diversification and stables, the authority shall, first, determine whether the proposed development is acceptable or not in principle according to the established procedure.

Step 3: Assessment of proposed details (1)

Where the proposed development is considered acceptable in principle, having fulfilled Steps 1 and 2, the Authority shall undertake an assessment of the proposed details of the development in accordance with the following criteria:

• first, the specific criteria on detailed considerations, as set out in the policies in parts 2, 3 and 4;

• second, the standard criteria on the details of development, as set out in the general policies in part 1.

When carrying out such assessments, the authority shall also ensure that the proposed details of the development satisfy the eligibility and locational prerequisites of the general policies, as discussed in steps 1 and 2.
