The curtains will rise this evening at 7 on the Lowenbrau Oktoberfest which runs over four days.
The entertainment bill for tonight includes Ira Losco, Miriam Christine Borg and Hooligan. The show will be presented by Valerie Vella.
During the weekend, visitors will be treated to numbers by Fabrizio Faniello, Freddie Portelli, Chiara, Olivia Lewis, J. Anvil, Joe Demicoli and Enzo Guzman.
The main attraction every night will be the Val Valente Band assisted by DJ Banana, Clare Agius and Joe id-Dulli and Veronique.
The youth area will consist of a purposely built tent called the 1565 House Of Rock.
This evening punk band BNI and Beangrowers will start off the programme which will be hosted by Sander Agius and Owen Bonnici.
During the weekend the beer extravaganza will feature the groups Scream Daisy, Rug, Corkscrew, Fakawi, Frenzy Mono, Hiddensun, Kalamazoo, and React.
One of the main highlights of the festival is the Oktoberfest Brew prepared especially for this first weekend in October. This lager is served directly from the brew house where the beer is kegged or bottled before it reaches the consumer.
The authentic Oktoberfest mugs are shipped directly from Germany.
The Oktoberfest is held at the Lowenbrau brewery in Qormi.
