It's 23:40. I just don't know where to start from. So many thoughts and so many feelings that it's easy to use the usual adjectives for a match like this which remains historic for the fact that it started on the 21st and came to an end on the 22nd of May (Russia's time).

One can say that Manchester United won the Champions League. Similarly, one can say that it was Chelsea which let it ‘slip' out of their hand (or rather slip from Terry's left foot). One can say that Ronaldo did reserve some magic for this match. At the same time, Ronaldo was almost negatively decisive in the penalty shoot-out. It's easy to praise the victors. But from a neutral position, I think Chelsea merited more, even if more than this isn't possible. It's a pity that one team had to lose.

Manchester United was exceptional for the first 44 minutes. A wonderful team. They were almost perfect. Then just like last year, at the 45th minute the goal from Lampard which levelled the score. After that it was only Chelsea. Something had to be said during the halftime to galvanise and transform Chelsea into the wonderful team...almost perfect. Their superiority, like Manchester's during the first half, didn't materialise itself in goals and the first 90 minutes ended 1-1. The extra time came, and Chelsea kept the pressure. Manchester United weren't there. 4 minutes from end, Drogba did what one wouldn't expect from a player of that calibre. Gets expelled and Manchester started to pile on pressure till the final whistle. Somehow, the game needed to be decided. And here comes the dramatic ingredient which continued to contribute towards a remarkable night for football lovers. Ronaldo misses his shot. Chelsea is a step away from being European Champions. Then lady luck abandoned John Terry and his team. A fatal slip, and his penalty kick goes wide. Manchester United is back in the game, until Van der Sar neutralises Anelka's kick. Chelsea's dream is shattered. Manchester United are European Champions. Well done Reds... Well done Blues...

Ronaldo lived up to his reputation for 44 minutes. Scholes managed to do something unique; injure himself and get the referee warn his opponent. Peter Cech was impressive and kept his team in the game in the first half. Terry emulated the keeper's skills but then the unfortunate kick. The goal posts aided Van Der Sar twice. At the end these are small incidents which will be forgotten. What will be written in the history books is that Manchester United won the cup.

Terry's shedding his tears on Grant's shoulder will remain in the minds of all Chelsea supporters. Grant's dream is over. Probably even his tenure as manager at Stamford Bridge came to an end.

This is football... someone has to win, someone has to lose. It's not necessarily the case that the worst lose or the best win. Even though tonight, both teams gave life to one of the best European Cup finals, ever seen to date.

It's a pity that UEFA appointed a hopeless referee and much worse assistants. The selection should have been better. He rarely took a good decision, apart from the sending off of Drogba.
