A Hal Far open centre resident today pleaded not guilty to stealing various items from a Birzebbuga residence during the term of a suspended sentence.

Ahmed Tarek Migre Ftis, 39, from Tripoli, who said worked as a part-time plasterer, pleaded denied stealing a computer, watches, cameras and jewellery worth more than €2,300 in total.

He also denied causing more than €250 in damages after allegedly breaking in from a window equipped with an insect screen.

The man was also charged with relapsing.

The incident happened on the night between September 10 and 11 last year. Sources said this was the fourth time the Libyan had been arraigned over separate cases.

No request for bail was made as the man is already being remanded in custody over other cases.

Lawyer Patrick Valentino was legal aid while police inspectors Saviour Baldacchino and Melvyn Camilleri prosecuted. The case was heard before Magistrate Charmaine Galea.
