The opposition yesterday called for a parliamentary debate on the ombudsman's report on career advancement in the armed forces and the reaction to it by the permanent secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister.
The request was made in a letter by Dr George Vella, deputy leader of the opposition, to Dr Lawrence Gonzi, leader of the House of Representatives.
Dr Vella said that if needs be, the ombudsman could be invited for the debate.
