A1 GP founder Sheikh Maktoum Hasher al-Maktoum has sold his entire majority stake in the motor racing series to London-based investment fund RAB Special Situations. The fund is run by RAB Capital plc chief executive Philip Richards. Dubai-based Maktoum announced in September that he was selling his stake to "permit a broadening of the institutional shareholder base ahead of a planned initial public offering". He launched the single-seater series last year with the initial aim of filling the European winter months between the end and beginning of the Formula One season.

Golf - Germany on top of the world
Germany won the World Cup for the second time with a gripping play-off victory over Scotland at Sandy Lane Resort's Country Club Course on Sunday. European Tour veteran Bernhard Langer and Marcel Siem edged out Colin Montgomerie and Marc Warren with a par-three at the first extra hole, Montgomerie having missed his own attempt there from four feet. Germany's previous victory came in 1990 when Langer and Torsten Giedeon triumphed in Orlando, Florida.
