¤ Reinstated US sprinter Torri Edwards says she will resume her career this winter and hopes to compete in March's world indoor championships in Moscow. The 2003 outdoor 100 metres world champion was reinstated by the IAAF on Nov. 12 after serving 15 months of a two-year suspension for a positive test for the banned stimulant nikethamide. The IAAF agreed to the reinstatement after the World Anti-Doping Agency downgraded nikethamide to a substance for which the sanction ranges from a public warning up to one year's ineligibility if the athlete can demonstrate no intention to enhance performance.

Captain Michael Vaughan had said that he would like Trescothick to stay for the second test as his presence was immense but he had left the decision up to him about returning home.

¤ Olympic pole vault champion Yelena Isinbayeva has split with her coach of eight years Yevgeny Trofimov. "Trofimov will no longer coach Isinbayeva," Russia's national team chief coach Valery Kulichenko told Reuters. "From now on she will be trained at the Sergei Bubka club in Donetsk." Isinbayeva's decision to part from Trofimov came as a shock after her success in the last two years. The 23-year-old Russian has been almost unbeatable since 2003, winning every major competition, including last year's Olympics in Athens and this year's world championships in Helsinki, and setting 18 world records in the process.
