Japan's Sakon Yamamoto will race for Spyker in the remaining seven races of the Formula One season. Yamamoto replaces Dutchman Christijan Albers, whose contract was terminated due to a sponsorship problem, alongside German rookie Adrian Sutil.

With Super Aguri's experienced Takuma Sato, he will be the second Japanese on the starting grid.

The 25-year-old from Toyohashi started seven races for Honda-backed Super Aguri last year and started this season as that team's second test driver as well as racing in the GP2 support series.

Ex-boxing champion dies

Former British heavyweight boxer James Oyebola died in hospital yesterday after his life-support machine was turned off. Oyebola, 47, was shot in the head and leg in the outside courtyard of a London nightclub on Monday night after asking customers to stop smoking.

The Nigeria-born boxer, a bronze medallist at the 1986 Commonwealth Games and who retired in 1996, was declared brain dead on Thursday.

Cricket floodlit match at Lord's

Lord's, the traditional home of world cricket, will stage its first floodlit match in September, the MCC said yesterday.

Middlesex will take on Derbyshire in a Pro40 fixture on September 10 in what MCC secretary and chief executive Keith Bradshaw calls an "historic occasion".
