With regard to the outrageous hike in the cost of motorcycle insurance I beg to ask: Are car drivers next? The rise in cost is being blamed on the need to insure a, please note, singular, one and only one passenger who is, in most cases, occasionally carried, and very carefully I might add.

Insurance is based upon the assumption of risk and therefore given that the number of motorcycles is a small percentage of private vehicles, pillion passenger injuries would be a much smaller percentage of the same. Are not car passengers far more likely to be injured, given the greater frequency and percentage of four wheeled passengers?

I wonder how much their premiums are going to rise? By the same logic of 300-400 per cent per pillion passenger, car drivers should be paying 1,200-1,600 per cent more this year.
