Over 400 Lifelong Learning courses announced for next academic year
New prospectus offers flexible learning options and more subjects
The Lifelong Learning prospectus for the 2025/26 academic year was launched on Thursday with more than 400 courses and greater flexibility in learning methods to suit different lifestyles and needs.
Speaking at the launch, Education Minister Clifton Grima said the programme underscores three key pillars of education: improving access to learning for those needing to upgrade their skills and qualifications, diversifying both the methods and opportunities for learning, and enhancing quality throughout the system.
Over 10,000 students followed courses under this programme last year.
Flexibility is this year’s most significant new feature, as students will have a variety of learning methods to choose from according to their lifestyle and requirements. Students can opt for either traditional face-to-face classes, live online lessons, or self-paced courses they can follow at a time that suits them. Shift workers can benefit from learning methods combining live and recorded online sessions.
The prospectus includes new courses in various categories with several new additions in science, digital technology and entrepreneurship topics. The creative arts category has been expanded to include gold embroidery, archery and inlay work.
The humanities programme now features courses in parenting skills, nutrition and sociology. And those who wish to study languages can enrol in conversation programmes in French, German and Italian, higher study levels in Arabic, French, Greek and Turkish as well as a specialised course in Business English.
Level verification procedures have been introduced for languages, mathematics and accounting courses.
Anyone aged 15 and over, and residing in Malta, is eligible to enrol on the Lifelong Learning courses. Seniors aged 60 and over are entitled to one free course per year.
On site lessons are held in Lifelong Learning centres in Msida, Imrieħel, Blata l-Bajda, Mosta and Rabat (Gozo), as well as through collaboration with various local councils and parishes across Malta and Gozo. A new adult learning centre is also being introduced in Ħal Kirkop.
Applications will be open from July 1 to August 8. Applications for flexible individual paced courses remain open until March 13, 2026.
