Over at last!

Thank goodness the Malta airshow is over. I have nothing against the airshow itself but I could not stand as many others the terrific noise the low flying aircraft made, besides the danger they posed to life and property.

For three whole days in Floriana, where I live, to name just one town or village, the terrific noise we had to endure was something that made us remember the war days when enemy aircraft used to fly low over Grand Harbour and surrounding towns. It was much worse than the firing of petards. The sick, the old and the very young (babies) had a tough time during the days of the airshow and would definitely not be looking forward to next year's event.

I wonder what those who frequently complain about the firing of petards and the ringing of bells during the festa season have to say about the noise pollution coming from these low flying aircraft during airshows. I trust that the authorities will take due consideration when issuing permits for next year.
