The Public Accounts Committee is to summon former Parliamentary Secretary Michael Falzon and Charles Camilleri, former director of the government's Estate Management Division to question them about the sworn statements they issued recently on the Gaffarena scandal.

In his statement Mr Camilleri had said that he did not expose Parliamentary Secretary Michael Falzon’s involvement in the case because he “felt threatened” by a man from Dr Falzon’s secretariat – Clint Scerri.

The decision was taken at the beginning of a sitting of the Public Accounts Committee. At the end of the meeting, Justice Minister Owen Bonnici said that while he agreed that the two should be questioned, that should be when the whole Auditor's report was debated.

Committee chairman Tonio Fenech insisted that a decision had already been taken, and he adjourned the meeting.
