Maybe the St Julian's council were a bit hasty in going ahead with the so-called 'controversial parking scheme' within its confines. But one must have noticed that the local council election was held in the same week, and this might have given the impression that the councillors contesting the election were doing it to win votes. This might have been the case, but again this might have bought an adverse reaction from local residents and business people.
l ask Mr Philip Fenech what is wrong with the people who live near Paceville, as well Paceville, with whom I commiserate, resting and having a good night's sleep. Why should we endure a whole night of car alarms sounding off while their owners are having a good time in his members' outlets?
It is not the first time that a car was parked in front, or near my home, and as soon as the owner turns the corner the car's alarm starts off, and carries on till the owner collects it in the early hours of the morning.
Maybe l am thinking just about myself. These parking restrictions are necessary, if anything allow local residents to be visited by family and friends.
Each family in the area could be given a sticker to display on the cars of visiting friends and relatives if these were stopping for more than the limited time, they can also extend the 90-minute deadline. l am sure that the councillors would come up with a solution to the benefit of the residents; after all, it is the residents who elected them to look after their interests.
I would like to thank the outgoing members of the local council for the work that has been done, and congratulate the new councillors and hope that they can improve on what their predecessors have done.
