German ambassador Georg Merten visited the Palace in Valletta where restorers from the Conservation Faculty of the University of Dresden are restoring the Perez d'Aleccio fresco in the Throne Room and the painted wooden ceiling of the Paladini Room.

The Perez d'Aleccio fresco and the painted wooden ceiling have suffered from repeated bad "restoration" attempts.

Valletta Rehabilitation Project coordinator Ray Bondin said the restoration projects under the leadership of Heinz Leitner for the d'Aleccio fresco and Urlich Schiessel for the Paladini project have set important new standards in conservation work.
