The ground floor of Palazzo Capua in Sliema, operated by the Victoria Hotel, has been restored and transformed into a conference and reception hall.

The works formed part of a larger project that will transform the palace into a conferencing and accommodation facility under one roof.

Palazzo Capua is an 18th century palace and one of the remaining few historical sites in Sliema. It was originally the residence of Prince Charles of Capua who after eloping to Gretna Green with an Irish heiress was exiled from Naples by his brother King Ferdinand II of the Two Sicilies.

The Palace, said to have been built by a Russian and originally named Selma Hall, was to be the house of the Prince and Princess of Capua for many years. In 1837 their first heir, Prince Francesco of Capua was born in it.
