The Guzè Damato Boys' Secondary School, Paola, has won this year's Best Library of the Year award. Six libraries from state and non-state schools contested this award.

Last year, the library at Guzè Damato was refurbished and enlarged so as to welcome a bigger number of students that go there to read, borrow and do research work. In addition, the library was donated books and equipment by mayor Raymond Attard on behalf of Paola council.

The Best Library of the Year 2004 award ceremony took place at St Edward's College. The prize, awarded by the Schools Library Service and the Department of Student Services of the Education Division, consisted of a certificate and Lm100 worth of books.

It was presented to Anthony Demicoli, head of Guzè Damato Secondary School, by Dr Cecilia Borg, Director-General of Education. Mr Demicoli in turn passed the award to the school librarians, Patrick Decelis and Savious Ciantar.
